Biometric Single SignOn

Single sign-on (SSO) enables a single user authentication and authorisation process to permit access all computers and systems where he has access permission, without the need to (re)enter multiple passwords. Single sign-on reduces human error, a major component of systems failure and is therefore highly desirable but can be difficult to implement effectively due to older historic systems and the complexity of authentication.

Enterprise Single Sign-On benefits include:

  • Ability to enforce uniform enterprise authentication and/or authorisation policies across the enterprise
  • End to end user audit sessions to improve security reporting and auditing
  • Removes application developers from having to understand and implement identity security in their applications
  • Usually results in significant password help desk cost savings, reducing helpdesk calls by up to 70%.

Did you know that even the strongest encryption can be circumvented through weak authentication?

Workstation Single Sign-On

These services enable you to connect to multiple applications within your network that use a common authentication mechanism. These services request and verify your credentials after you log into the network, and use your credentials to determine the actions that you can perform based on your user rights. For example, if applications integrate using Kerberos, after the system authenticates your user credentials, you can access any resource in the network that is integrated with Kerberos.

Windows Biometric Framework for Win 7/8

The Windows Biometric Framework (WBF) is a set of services and interfaces that permit consistent development and management of biometric devices, such as fingerprint readers. WBF improves the reliability and compatibility with biometric services and drivers. The WBF allows device developers the ability to interact with the client side of the framework to support each biometric solution.

Windows 7 and later implement free support for Biometric devices. The Windows Biometric Framework (WBF) is a generic biometric architecture in Windows 7 and later versions of Windows. WBF includes an IOCTL-based driver interface known as the Windows Biometric Driver Interface (WBDI) as well as a Windows service called the Windows Biometric Framework API (Windows) (WBS). WBS is also referred to as the WinBio service. WBDI drivers respond to requests from the WinBio service. WBF also includes Windows log-in support.

Enterprise Single Sign-On System

Enterprise Single Sign-On provides services to store and transmit encrypted user credentials across local and network boundaries, including domain boundaries. SSO stores the credentials in the Credential database. Because SSO provides a generic single sign-on solution, middleware applications and custom adapters can take advantage of SSO to securely store and transmit user credentials across the environment. End users do not have to remember different credentials for different applications.
